Supply and exports

Dry gas production and LNG exports, Bcf/d. Solid: reported by EIA. Dashed: EIA's STEO projection.

Dry production

LNG exports

LNG export terminals

Feedgas leaves the market through these terminals. Monthly exports by terminal, Bcf/d.

Demand by sector

Residential and commercial demand follow heating degree days, power burn follows cooling degree days; industrial demand is steady.

Consumption by sector, Bcf/d

Solid: reported. Dashed: STEO projection.

The balance, month by month

Supply minus consumption and exports is what goes into (or comes out of) storage, give or take EIA's balancing item. Shaded rows are STEO projections.

Source: U.S. Energy Information Administration, Natural Gas Monthly (supply and disposition, consumption by sector, exports by point of exit) and the Short-Term Energy Outlook. Monthly volumes are converted to Bcf/d by the days in each month. EIA's monthly survey runs about three months behind; the STEO fills the months since and projects about 18 months ahead. The monthly data is not used in the weekly storage estimate: tested week by week, it did not improve on the estimate's own eight-week correction for supply shifts.
